Why Does Your Business Need A Mobile Website?
We will give you a few reasons why your business needs a Mobile Website. Let me throw a few numbers at you first of all.
- 7 billion people on earth
- 5.1 billion own a cell phone
- 4.2 billion own a toothbrush
- Mobile searches are number one on most search engines.
- Mobile searches will double by 2016
- 178% increase in Mobile advertising expected to grow 5x by 2016
These are just a few reasons why your business needs (better get) a mobile website.
Last night just for fun I looked up 50 businesses in 3 different cities, to see if they had a Mobile website. I only looked up businesses that even had a website on google plus. I looked up these businesses in Goldsboro, Wilmington, and Jacksonville, NC. Retail, auto repair, hair salons, restaurants, and realtor's. Here are my results by city.
- Wilmington, NC had the best results. Out of 50 businesses only 13 had mobile websites. That is 26%.
- Jacksonville, NC came in second. Out of 50 businesses only 9 had mobile websites. That is 18%
- Goldsboro, NC came in last. Out of 50 businesses only 6 had mobile websites. That is 12%.
One other thing that I noticed is that most of those that even had a mobile website did not have a tap to call button, a button for directions, or made it simply for a mobile user to use their website effectively. Remember these were local businesses that had websites. There are a lot of customers out there in your town looking for business. Who wants those customers is up to you the local small business owner. Get a mobile website for a piece of the pie.
Across the US it's estimated that only 20% of businesses have a mobile website. There are a ton of businesses that are losing money. Because once a mobile user searches for something and the site they are on is confusing or hard to navigate. They simply x off your site and go to the competition. Wake up local business owners! Compete and win more customers very easy with a true mobile website that is designed with your business in mind.
Check this out local businesses in Goldsboro, Wilmington, and Jacksonville, NC. Here are a few more reasons you will want a Mobile website.
- Mobile is number one focus for google. If your site is not mobile they will penalize your ranking in the search engines.
- Mobile is the number one way people search on facebook.
- Apple's new focus is on mobile.
- Microsoft's new focus is on mobile. Smart phone sales expected to double by 2016.
- It is expected that local businesses will shift their advertising budgets to mobile with a 69% increase by the end of 2015.
- Medium and large businesses already know this are are trying to squash the local small business owner. You must be able to compete. Get with it local business owners.
Some local business owners think that the app is the answer. Well check this out. Apps are for customer retention and mobile websites are for getting new customers into your business as well as retention. Yes apps have their place but if someone searches for a place to eat, do you think they will find your app. I think not. Plus it cost two to ten times more to acquire a new customer than it does to retain one.
Savior for local businesses is google. That is where most people search for items that they are looking for. Google does not like mobile search results that link to a non mobile optimized site. They even penalize their own ads.
Having a Mobile Website is no longer optional or nice to have. Having a mobile website is required or your business could be doomed. Mobile websites are on fire. Look at your customers. What are they on. That's right. Their smart phone. That's why your business needs a mobile website. Go mobile just like your customers or potential customers. Let your customers take your local business with them. Focus on getting your local business a mobile website. Then you can focus on more advanced mobile marketing strategies.
